Coast to Coast, In Stages…
-
Stage 1: Operation Snowbird
I’ll begin my first stage of the tour as so many other New Yorkers do each winter: with refugee status from the snow and ice and headed toward the warmer climes of the south! I’ll take Route 81 through Pennsylvania, passing through Virginia, North Carolina, Georgia, South Carolina, and Georgia again, before reaching Florida and enjoying the sights of both coasts and the Keys. (I’ll also spend some time revisiting Orlando, my home for nearly a decade!
-
Stage 2: Head West, Young Man!
I’ll spend a few days taking in the scenic vistas of the Blue Ridge Parkway before arriving in Florida’s panhandle to begin my journey west. I’ll keep it coastal through Alabama, sticking to the Coastal Connection Scenic Byway, as well as Mississippi and Louisiana ! I hope to spend a few days in Texas, including a visit to Tesla headquarters, and then visit New Mexico, Colorado, Utah - hope to get speedy on the Salt Flats - and finishing in Nevada.
-
Stage 3: The 'Left Coast'
I’ll start my journey on the west coast as close to the Mexican border as possible, and end up just a stone’s throw from Canada in the Pacific Northwest. In between I’ll visit Los Angeles, new and old Hollywood, San Francisco, and the beauty that is the Pacific Coast Highway. I hope to see Redwood and Sequoia trees, and geysers, as well. I’ll check out coastal and metro Oregon as I head for Portland, and then finish the leg in the city of Seattle.
-
Stage 4: 'Drive-Over Country'
I’ll return via the midwest, letting weather and road conditions - and my medical condition - determine how much time I have to spend on the road. I’d like to drive down toward the south, seeing as much as possible on what may be my last road trip on the #StageIVTour. Possible states are slated to include Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, South Dakota, Iowa, Missouri - Route 66! - Arkansas, Mississippi, Tennessee, Kentucky, West Virginia, and Pennsylvania.
Sponsors Wanted!
I am in search of sponsors and supporters of the Stage IV Tour. Sponsorship might include donations of equipment that will help the journey, including photography and videography equipment to help me broadcast my journey via social media, drones, video editing programs, solar power charging, camping equipment, hotel stays, and more. If you are a company interested in getting involved, please click here. If you are an individual interested in supporting my efforts, visit the donation page. If you have tips for the trip, or want to help out in some way along my way, just email me. Any amount of help is appreciated!

2021: THE ‘DRY RUN’ ROAD TRIP
The first mini-road trip took place in June 2021! Good friend Benjamin and I embarked on what was intended to be a ‘dry run’ road trip, intending to follow a route along the Great Lakes from Geneva, NY to Holland, MI. We hoped to take in the sights on the shores of Lake Ontario, Lake Erie, Lake Michigan, and - if we weren’t too tired - Lake Huron! Unfortunately a hit-and-run in a Walmart parking lot in Erie, PA - and some piss poor police work - brought the ‘road’ portion of our trip to a screeching halt, and we decided to spend a few days in beautiful Presque Isle State Park. Read more about that trip below…
STAGE I: OPERATION SNOWBIRD
Stage I of my road trip began on January 10th, 2022 as I embarked on what I decided to call “Operation Snowbird.” It would be a trip from north to south, starting at my home in the Finger Lakes region of New York and meandering down the coast to what I hoped would be a turnaround point in Key West, Florida. I’d spend 21 days and 20 nights on the road, traveling (and, for the most part, sleeping) in my 2021 Tesla Model 3. I would endeavor to spend as little money as possible, as I traveled “cheaply and cleanly” through the eastern United States. Some of my goals for the trip included experiencing a few of the country’s iconic scenic drives, like the Outer Banks National Scenic Byway, the Overseas Highway, and A1A, Beachfront Avenue! - Route 1 through Florida. I’d spend the night in Key West, in the southernmost campground in the continent United States, before heading home.
BLUE RIDGE PARKWAY, SKYLINE DRIVE, & TAIL OF THE DRAGON
In the spring of 2022 I headed for the mountains - the Blue Ridge Mountains. The Blue Ridge Parkway is a National Parkway and All-American Road in the United States, is the longest park in the U.S., spanning 469 miles through 29 counties in Virginia and North Carolina. It links Skyline Drive in Shenandoah National Park to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park in Tennessee. Toward the end is the ‘Tail of the Dragon’, a car enthusiast’s dream with its “318 curves in 11 miles”. On this trip I’d drive all of Skyline Drive, and as much of the Blue Ridge Parkway that weather would allow. I’d take a day to drive out and back on “America’s number one motorcycle and sports car road”, as well. It was quite a trip…
