Just Arrived: Tesmat!

This week I received my Tesmat! The Tesmat is a portable camping mattress that, once compressed and squeeeeezed into its branded travel bag, just fits in the subtrunk of the car.

I wanted a mattress that would always travel with me, because with cancer you never know when exhaustion may set in and sleeping on a mattress is way more comfortable than sleeping in the driver’s seat. (Plus, spontaneous road trips? Yes!)

This mattress will replace the VW camper van mattress Ben and I borrowed for the ‘Dry Run’ road trip in June. I had my eye on the Tesmat then, but they were pre-order only for months, and weren’t available to ship until later in the summer.

Anyway, I drove over to the Syracuse airport observation area where there’s lots of room and set this up today. (Definitely got some odd looks from security, who no doubt prefer people not camp in their cars on airport property.) First impressions are that this mattress is thinner than the old loaner mattress - could be less comfortable to sleep on, but could provide additional breathing room in the back of the car as well.
